OTTAWA, ONTARIO (September 20th, 2012) - The Honourable John Duncan, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, issued the following statement on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Northern Scientific Training Program (NSTP).
Established in 1961 and fully implemented in 1962, the Northern Scientific Training Program supports the efforts of Canadian universities to foster northern science and technology, by providing supplementary funding to students interested in studying Canada's North.
"For over 50 years, the Northern Scientific Training Program has demonstrated commendable commitment to Canadian Northern Science," said Minister Duncan. "This program encourages students to pursue northern studies and to develop a commitment to the North." [Read more...]
